While Sue Hetrick received most of her formal training in art from HACC, Central Pa’s Community College; she continues to learn from her own experimentation. Her ceramic pieces are crafted to be functional works of whimsy. The same can be said for her glass fused and slumped pieces, which tend to be her favored creations. The addition of wire wrapping make the glass pieces uniquely her own. Whether ceramic or glass, Sue crafts works of art that incorporate fun into function.

Wine Bottle Cheese Plates

These unique serving dishes are excellent for entertaining and spreading good cheer; always a great conversation starter. Bottles display beautifully while not in use. The top is raised slightly, making it easy to handle. Included with every cheese plate is a delicately wire wrapped utensil holder and  serving knife. Each has its own unique personality and is signed by the artist who created it.

Radius
gift shop at the Pennsylvania State Museum

Radius
opened with an elegant reception in February 2006

It’s a win-win situation for the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission, The State Museum’s parent organization, and HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. The Commission had been entertaining proposals for an outside group to operate the gift shop here at The State Museum. HACC had been seeking an outlet for the high-end crafts produced by students of its Contemporary Crafts Marketing program. Now, the two have entered into a partnership that satisfies both organizations’ goals and provides a retail opportunity for museum visitors.

HACC now operates the shop, named Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop, which serves as a sales outlet for merchandise produced by HACC crafts artisans as well as select items recruited for consignment sales from the HACC Crafts program and artisans from the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. All merchandise is in keeping with the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission’s mission to represent Pennsylvania state interests, artists and crafts. Commissioned work also may be available.

Bring home a piece of Pennsylvania; there's

 something for everyone.
